Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcipotriol + dithranol is a topical combination therapy used for the treatment of chronic plaque psoriasis. This regimen combines calcipotriol, a synthetic vitamin D derivative that slows excessive skin cell production, with dithranol (anthralin), a traditional antipsoriatic agent. Clinical studies have shown that this combination significantly enhances therapeutic efficacy compared to dithranol monotherapy, with marked acceleration in the response of psoriatic plaques. The typical regimen involves short-contact application of dithranol (once daily for 30 minutes) combined with twice-daily application of calcipotriol ointment. This combination is well-tolerated with no significant increase in cutaneous adverse events compared to dithranol alone.
