Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcipotriol + halometasone is a fixed-dose topical combination of two active ingredients used primarily in the treatment of plaque psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions. Calcipotriol is a synthetic vitamin D3 analog that modulates keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation by binding to the vitamin D receptor, thereby reducing excessive skin cell growth characteristic of psoriasis. Halometasone is a potent synthetic corticosteroid that acts as an anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antipruritic agent by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production and suppressing immune responses in the skin. The combination leverages both agents' mechanisms for improved efficacy over monotherapy with either component alone.
