Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcitriol + clobetasol is a topical combination drug used primarily for the treatment of psoriasis and other autoimmune skin disorders. Calcitriol is the active form of vitamin D3 and acts as an antipsoriatic agent by reducing excessive production of skin cells, thereby minimizing scaling and plaque formation. Clobetasol is a potent corticosteroid that exerts anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, vasoconstrictive, and antiproliferative effects by binding to glucocorticoid receptors in the skin. This combination targets both abnormal keratinocyte proliferation (via calcitriol) and inflammation/immune response (via clobetasol), providing synergistic benefits in managing chronic inflammatory dermatoses such as plaque psoriasis[1][4][5][6].
