**Freecal** is a branded generic combination of calcium and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) marketed by JoY Pharma. It is formulated as capsules, tablets, and suspensions to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, support bone density, and manage conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and rickets. Calcium is a vital mineral required for bone formation, muscle contraction, and nerve transmission. Cholecalciferol is a fat-soluble vitamin that undergoes hepatic and renal hydroxylation to form calcitriol, the active metabolite that binds to the Vitamin D receptor (VDR) to stimulate intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus, thereby maintaining skeletal health.
