Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcibus-C is a branded generic combination medication developed and marketed by Globus Remedies, a pharmaceutical company based in India. The formulation typically consists of calcium carbonate, calcitriol (the physiologically active form of vitamin D3), and zinc sulfate. It is primarily indicated for the management of conditions associated with calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, hypocalcemia, and renal osteodystrophy. Calcitriol acts by binding to the vitamin D receptor to enhance intestinal calcium absorption and renal tubular reabsorption, while calcium carbonate provides the elemental calcium necessary for bone mineralization. Zinc is included as a cofactor for various enzymes involved in bone tissue synthesis and remodeling.
