Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Acaldo is a combination pharmaceutical product containing calcium carbonate and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), marketed by Accilex Nutricorp. It is primarily used as a nutritional supplement to prevent or treat calcium deficiency and to support bone health in conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and rickets. Calcium carbonate provides a source of elemental calcium, which is essential for the maintenance of the skeletal system, nervous system, and muscular function; it also possesses antacid properties. Cholecalciferol, or vitamin D3, is a fat-soluble vitamin that facilitates the intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and regulates their serum levels by binding to the vitamin D receptor (VDR). This combination ensures adequate calcium availability for bone mineralization and overall metabolic health.
