Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Accrete-D is a fixed-dose combination product containing calcium carbonate and colecalciferol (vitamin D3). It is developed and marketed by Thornton & Ross (a STADA company) primarily for the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in the elderly, as well as an adjunct to specific osteoporosis treatments. Calcium is a critical mineral for bone health, and its carbonate salt provides a high concentration of elemental calcium. Colecalciferol is converted in the body to its active form, calcitriol, which binds to the vitamin D receptor (VDR) to increase the intestinal absorption of calcium and maintain adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations for bone mineralization.
