Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A sterile intravenous crystalloid electrolyte and carbohydrate replacement solution containing calcium chloride, sodium lactate, dextrose monohydrate, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride. It is used for **parenteral fluid and electrolyte replacement** in patients who require potassium supplementation together with replacement of extracellular fluid losses and a small caloric contribution from dextrose. Its therapeutic effect is primarily physiologic rather than receptor-targeted: sodium and chloride help restore extracellular volume and osmotic balance, potassium helps prevent or correct hypokalemia, calcium supports normal neuromuscular and cardiac function, dextrose provides minimal carbohydrate calories and supports blood glucose, and lactate serves as a bicarbonate precursor that can help buffer metabolic acidosis. This product is marketed as an intravenous infusion solution in single-dose plastic containers for hospital use.
