Overview

Camizestrant (AZD9833) is an oral, next-generation selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) developed for the treatment of estrogen receptor-positive (ER+), HER2-negative advanced breast cancer. It works by binding to and degrading the estrogen receptor, thereby blocking estrogen-driven tumor growth. Everolimus is an oral small molecule inhibitor of the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR), used in oncology and transplant medicine. In combination, camizestrant targets hormone signaling while everolimus inhibits a key cell growth pathway, providing a dual approach to suppressing cancer cell proliferation in ER+ breast cancer. This combination is being investigated primarily for advanced or metastatic ER+, HER2-negative breast cancer that has progressed on prior therapies[2][3][4][6][7].
