This neoadjuvant combination regimen consists of the PD-1 inhibitor camrelizumab, the chemotherapy agents albumin paclitaxel and nedaplatin, and the VEGFR-2 tyrosine kinase inhibitor apatinib. It is being investigated by the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University for the treatment of resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Camrelizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that blocks the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands, thereby restoring T-cell antitumor activity. Apatinib is a small molecule that selectively inhibits VEGFR-2, suppressing tumor angiogenesis. The chemotherapy components, albumin paclitaxel and nedaplatin, provide cytotoxic effects by stabilizing microtubules and cross-linking DNA, respectively. This multi-modal approach aims to increase the pathological complete response (pCR) rate and improve surgical outcomes in locally advanced ESCC.
