Overview

This combination regimen is an adjuvant therapy consisting of the PD-1 inhibitor camrelizumab, the fluoropyrimidine carbamate capecitabine, and external beam radiotherapy. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of high-risk resectable biliary tract cancers, including extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and gallbladder cancer. Camrelizumab is a monoclonal antibody that blocks the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands, thereby enhancing the immune system's ability to target tumor cells. Capecitabine acts as a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil, which inhibits thymidylate synthase to disrupt DNA synthesis and serves as a radiosensitizer. Radiotherapy provides localized control by inducing direct DNA damage in the tumor bed and regional lymph nodes. This multimodal approach aims to reduce recurrence rates in patients with high-risk features following surgical resection.
