Overview

Camrelizumab (SHR-1210) is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), acting as an immune checkpoint inhibitor. By binding to PD-1 on T cells, B cells, and natural killer cells, it blocks the interaction with its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, which are often overexpressed on tumor cells. This blockade restores T-cell activity against cancer cells[1][4][8]. Camrelizumab is developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine and Incyte Biosciences[4][8]. It has been approved in China for recurrent/refractory classical Hodgkin's lymphoma and is under investigation for other cancers such as hepatocellular carcinoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, bladder cancer[2][4][5][8]. GEMOX refers to the chemotherapy combination of gemcitabine (a nucleoside analog inhibiting DNA synthesis) and oxaliplatin (a platinum-based chemotherapeutic causing DNA crosslinking). The combination of camrelizumab with GEMOX is being investigated in clinical trials for various solid tumors.
