This combination therapy consists of camrelizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, and mecapegfilgrastim, a pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (PEG-rhG-CSF). The regimen is being investigated by Sun Yat-sen University for the treatment of recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in patients who have failed first-line platinum-based therapy. Camrelizumab acts as a checkpoint inhibitor, restoring T-cell anti-tumor activity by blocking the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway. Mecapegfilgrastim, traditionally used to manage chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, is hypothesized to have a synergistic effect in this context by increasing the proportion of effector CD4+ T cells and enhancing T-cell receptor (TCR) diversity, thereby potentially improving the efficacy of PD-1 inhibition.
