Overview

camrelizumab + rivoceranib + hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) is a combination treatment regimen being evaluated for the treatment of intermediate-to-advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The regimen combines camrelizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, with rivoceranib (also known as apatinib), an oral small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2). This systemic combination is further integrated with HAIC, a locoregional treatment that delivers high concentrations of chemotherapy (typically oxaliplatin and fluorouracil) directly into the hepatic artery. This triple-modality approach is primarily being investigated as a conversion therapy to downstage tumors in patients with potentially resectable HCC, aiming to improve surgical outcomes. The clinical development is led by Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital in collaboration with Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, with the regimen currently being evaluated in the Phase 2/3 CARES-009 study.
