A combination of **canagliflozin** (a small molecule sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor) and **insulin** (a biologic hormone used for glucose regulation) used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Canagliflozin reduces blood glucose by inhibiting SGLT2 in the renal proximal tubules, decreasing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion. Insulin lowers blood glucose by stimulating cellular uptake of glucose and suppressing hepatic glucose production. The combination is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who have inadequate glycemic control with insulin alone or in combination with other oral antihyperglycemic agents. The combination has shown to improve glycemic control and, compared to monotherapy, may reduce body weight. Concomitant use increases the risk of hypoglycemia and may require adjustment of insulin dosage[4][7].
