candesartan + enalapril

Candesartan + enalapril is a combination of two antihypertensive agents used primarily in the management of congestive heart failure and potentially for hypertension. Candesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, leading to vasodilation, reduced aldosterone secretion, and decreased blood pressure. Enalapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, also resulting in vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. The combination provides a more complete blockade of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system than either agent alone, which may result in greater suppression of neurohormonal activation and improved prevention of left ventricular remodeling in heart failure patients[1][3].
