Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Candesartan + felodipine** is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents: candesartan, an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker (ARB), and felodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. This combination is designed to provide additive blood pressure lowering effects for the treatment of hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. Candesartan selectively blocks the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, while felodipine inhibits L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation. The combination has demonstrated additive efficacy and a favorable tolerability profile in clinical studies[1][3][4].
