candesartan cilexetil + atorvastatin calcium

CKD-330 + D085 (also known as CKD-333) is a fixed-dose combination therapy developed by Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical for the management of patients with both hypertension and dyslipidemia. It combines candesartan cilexetil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), with atorvastatin calcium, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). Candesartan cilexetil is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed to candesartan, which selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, resulting in vasodilation and decreased aldosterone secretion. Atorvastatin calcium works by competitively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor of sterols including cholesterol. This combination provides a synergistic approach to reducing cardiovascular risk by simultaneously controlling blood pressure and lipid profiles.
