Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CAPCS + desonide is a combination therapy consisting of CAPCS (Calcium-based Antimicrobial Peptide Compounds) and desonide, a low-potency topical corticosteroid. Desonide acts as an anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive agent by binding to cytosolic glucocorticoid receptors, modulating gene expression to reduce the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. CAPCS has demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects in animal models of atopic dermatitis (AD), reducing scratching behavior and levels of inflammatory cytokines. It also appears to inhibit TLR2- and TLR4-mediated immune responses in skin inflammation. The combination aims to provide enhanced therapeutic benefit for inflammatory skin conditions like atopic dermatitis by leveraging both antimicrobial peptide activity (from CAPCS) and corticosteroid-mediated immunosuppression (from desonide)[3][5].
