Overview

A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of capecitabine and dacarbazine. Capecitabine is an oral fluoropyrimidine carbamate prodrug that is enzymatically converted to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in tumor tissues, interfering with DNA synthesis. It was specifically designed to overcome the disadvantages of 5-FU administration while mimicking its pharmacokinetics. Dacarbazine is a synthetic analog of naturally occurring purine precursor that acts as an antineoplastic agent, primarily used in the treatment of metastatic melanoma and Hodgkin's disease. When combined, these agents work through complementary mechanisms to target cancer cells. This combination is primarily used in the treatment of advanced endocrine cancers, particularly showing some activity in adrenocortical carcinoma.
