capecitabine + oxaliplatin + docetaxel

This drug regimen is a sequential chemotherapy protocol consisting of capecitabine and oxaliplatin (XELOX) followed by docetaxel and capecitabine (TX). It was evaluated by the Taipei Veterans General Hospital for the treatment of unresectable gastric cancer. Capecitabine is an oral fluoropyrimidine carbamate that acts as a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil, inhibiting thymidylate synthase. Oxaliplatin is a third-generation platinum compound that forms DNA adducts, leading to the inhibition of DNA synthesis and transcription. Docetaxel is a taxane that promotes microtubule assembly and inhibits disassembly, resulting in cell cycle arrest. The sequential approach aims to maximize efficacy while managing toxicity in patients with advanced gastric malignancies.
