Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Capecitabine + pembrolizumab is a combination therapy that pairs an oral fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy agent (capecitabine) with an immune checkpoint inhibitor (pembrolizumab). Pembrolizumab is a humanized antibody that blocks PD-1 receptors on lymphocytes, preventing cancer cells from evading immune detection and allowing the immune system to target and destroy them. Capecitabine is typically administered at 1000 mg/m² orally twice daily on days 1-14 of a 21-day cycle, while pembrolizumab is given as a 200 mg intravenous infusion on day 1 of each cycle. This combination has been studied in various cancer types including triple-negative breast cancer, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, and biliary tract carcinoma.
