Overview

A combination of capecitabine (a nucleoside metabolic inhibitor with antineoplastic activity), pioglitazone (a thiazolidinedione antidiabetic medication), and rofecoxib (a COX-2 selective NSAID that was withdrawn from the market in 2004). Capecitabine is used for various cancer treatments including colorectal, breast, gastric, esophageal, and pancreatic cancers. Rofecoxib was previously used for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute pain, primary dysmenorrhea, and migraine attacks before being withdrawn due to cardiovascular safety concerns.
