Overview

Capsaicin + allyl isothiocyanate is a combination of two small molecule compounds, each with distinct bioactive properties. **Capsaicin** is a potent agonist of the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (**TRPV1**) ion channel, predominantly found in sensory neurons, and induces a burning pain sensation followed by desensitization to painful stimuli. Capsaicin’s activation of TRPV1 triggers downstream pathways involving protein kinases (e.g., PKA, PKC, MAPK), increases neuropeptide (such as CG). Allyl isothiocyanate is known to activate the transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) channel, also involved in nociception and inflammatory responses.
