Overview

A combination therapy consisting of captopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, and pentoxifylline, a hemorheological agent. This combination has been studied primarily for its effects on proteinuria in diabetic nephropathy and for potential synergistic effects in hypertension treatment. Captopril works by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, while pentoxifylline improves blood flow properties by decreasing blood viscosity, increasing erythrocyte flexibility, and providing anti-inflammatory effects.
