CAR+ NK cells (Chimeric Antigen Receptor Natural Killer cells) are an engineered cellular immunotherapy designed to enhance the innate anti-tumor activity of natural killer cells. By expressing a synthetic CAR construct, these cells are redirected to specifically recognize and lyse tumor cells expressing a target antigen, such as CD19 in B-cell malignancies. CAR-NK cells offer potential advantages over CAR-T therapies, including a reduced risk of cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), enabling the development of "off-the-shelf" allogeneic products. In research settings, they are frequently used as a benchmark for evaluating novel engineered lymphocyte subsets, such as NKG2C+ CD8 T cells.
