Overview
This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of three drugs: - **Carboplatin** is a platinum-based antineoplastic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, inhibiting DNA synthesis and function, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - **Bleomycin** is an antitumor antibiotic that binds to DNA and causes strand breaks through free radical formation, resulting in inhibition of DNA synthesis and cell death[1]. - **Prednisone** is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It acts as an agonist at the glucocorticoid receptor, modulating gene expression to suppress immune responses and inflammation[3]. This combination may be used for the treatment of certain cancers (such as lymphomas or germ cell tumors), leveraging the cytotoxic effects of carboplatin and bleomycin along with the supportive anti-inflammatory effects of prednisone.
