This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs—carboplatin, celecoxib, and docetaxel—used in the treatment of certain advanced cancers. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that induces DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Docetaxel is a taxane-class chemotherapeutic that stabilizes microtubules, inhibiting cell division. Celecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, primarily used as an anti-inflammatory agent but investigated for its potential to enhance chemotherapy efficacy by targeting COX-2 overexpression in tumors. This combination has been studied in phase II and III clinical trials for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and ovarian cancer; however, the addition of celecoxib did not significantly improve progression-free or overall survival compared to chemotherapy alone[1][2].
