This is a combination regimen consisting of five agents used in oncology clinical trials, primarily for the treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). The regimen includes: - **Carboplatin** and **cisplatin**: platinum-based alkylating agents that form DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - **Etoposide**: a topoisomerase II inhibitor that induces DNA strand breaks and prevents cell division. - **Anlotinib**: an oral small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting VEGFR, FGFR, PDGFR, and c-Kit receptors; it inhibits angiogenesis and tumor growth[1][2][3][4]. - **Benmelstobart** (also known as penpulimab): a monoclonal antibody targeting PD-1, acting as an immune checkpoint inhibitor to enhance anti-tumor immune responses[8]. This multi-agent protocol is under investigation for first-line therapy in ES-SCLC. Clinical studies have shown promising efficacy with manageable safety profiles when combining these drugs. Anlotinib provides antiangiogenic effects with non-overlapping toxicity compared to chemotherapy. Benmelstobart adds immunotherapy by blocking the PD-1 pathway.
