Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of three cytotoxic agents: carboplatin, cisplatin, and gemcitabine. All three are small molecule chemotherapeutic drugs commonly used in the treatment of various solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), bladder cancer, ovarian cancer, and biliary tract cancers. - **Carboplatin** and **cisplatin** are platinum-based compounds that form DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis by inhibiting DNA replication and transcription. - **Gemcitabine** is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis by incorporating into DNA during replication and also inhibits ribonucleotide reductase. While combinations of two of these agents (gemcitabine + carboplatin or gemcitabine + cisplatin) are well-established regimens for several cancers[1][2][3][4][5][6], the triple combination (carboplatin + cisplatin + gemcitabine) is not standard clinical practice but may be explored in research or specific clinical scenarios.
