Overview

Carboplatin + cyclophosphamide is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of two alkylating agents used primarily in the treatment of various cancers. Carboplatin is a platinum-containing compound that exerts its antineoplastic effects by forming DNA cross-links and monoadducts, leading to inhibition of DNA synthesis and transcription and ultimately causing cell death. Cyclophosphamide is a nitrogen mustard derivative that also acts as an alkylating agent; it forms cross-links in DNA and RNA strands through its active metabolite phosphoramide mustard, inhibiting protein synthesis and disrupting cell division. Both drugs are cell cycle-nonspecific agents that induce cytotoxicity by damaging genetic material within cancer cells[4][5][8]. This combination is commonly used for ovarian cancer but may be applied to other malignancies as well.
