Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four cytotoxic agents: carboplatin, docetaxel, gemcitabine, and vinorelbine. Each drug has a distinct mechanism of action targeting different aspects of cell division and DNA synthesis. Carboplatin is a platinum-based compound that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis; docetaxel is a taxane that stabilizes microtubules and inhibits mitosis; gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis; vinorelbine is a vinca alkaloid that disrupts microtubule formation. This combination has been investigated primarily for the treatment of advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), aiming to maximize antitumor efficacy by combining drugs with complementary mechanisms. The regimen may be used in various sequences or combinations as part of clinical trials or experimental protocols[1][3][4].
