Overview
A combination therapy consisting of carboplatin (a platinum-based chemotherapy agent), encequidar (a P-glycoprotein pump inhibitor), and paclitaxel (a taxane chemotherapy agent). Encequidar is a first-in-class, minimally absorbed, gut-specific oral P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inhibitor that enables the oral absorption of paclitaxel, which otherwise has low bioavailability due to gut extrusion by P-gp. This combination allows for therapeutic plasma paclitaxel exposure comparable to intravenous administration while potentially reducing side effects like neuropathy.
