Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of carboplatin (a platinum-based alkylating agent), gemcitabine (a nucleoside analog), and mifepristone (a glucocorticoid receptor antagonist). This investigational combination has been studied in phase I clinical trials for advanced breast cancer and recurrent or persistent ovarian cancer. Preclinical studies suggest that mifepristone may enhance the efficacy of carboplatin and gemcitabine by blocking glucocorticoid receptor activation, which can inhibit chemotherapy-induced cell death.
