Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of three agents: - **Carboplatin** (a platinum-based alkylating agent), - **Gemcitabine** (a nucleoside analog antimetabolite), and - **Paclitaxel liposome** (a liposomal formulation of the microtubule inhibitor paclitaxel). The combination is used as an induction therapy for certain cancers, such as unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In this regimen, carboplatin and gemcitabine are administered systemically, while paclitaxel liposome is delivered intratumorally. The rationale for using the liposomal form of paclitaxel includes improved tumor targeting, reduced systemic toxicity, and enhanced drug accumulation in tumor tissues. This approach aims to maximize antitumor efficacy while minimizing adverse effects[1][2].
