This is a combination regimen consisting of three agents: - **Carboplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapy that induces DNA crosslinking, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - **Nab-paclitaxel** (nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel) is a microtubule inhibitor formulated with albumin nanoparticles to enhance delivery and reduce hypersensitivity reactions compared to conventional paclitaxel. It disrupts microtubule function, inhibiting cell division. - **Nivolumab** is a monoclonal antibody immune checkpoint inhibitor targeting the programmed death-1 (PD-1) receptor on T cells. By blocking PD-1, it enhances anti-tumor immune responses. This combination has been investigated primarily for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including both squamous and non-squamous histologies, as well as for locoregionally advanced HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer. The regimen leverages the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy with the immunomodulatory action of nivolumab to improve tumor response rates and survival outcomes[1][5][8].
