Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Carboplatin + paclitaxel is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of the taxane paclitaxel and the platinum-based agent carboplatin. In the context of the VULCANIZE-II trial led by The Netherlands Cancer Institute, this combination is being evaluated as neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) followed by surgery for patients with locally advanced vulvar carcinoma (LAVC). Paclitaxel works by stabilizing microtubules, interfering with cell division, while carboplatin forms DNA adducts that inhibit replication and transcription, leading to apoptosis.
