Overview

The combination of carboplatin, paclitaxel, and bevacizumab is a chemotherapy regimen primarily used for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and certain gynecological cancers such as ovarian, fallopian tube, primary peritoneal cancer, and cervical cancer. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Paclitaxel is a microtubule inhibitor that disrupts mitosis by stabilizing microtubules. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), inhibiting angiogenesis required for tumor growth. The combination aims to maximize cytotoxic effects on tumor cells while also restricting their blood supply through antiangiogenic therapy[1][2][3][5].
