Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination regimen consisting of three agents: - **Carboplatin** (a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that induces DNA crosslinking and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells) - **Paclitaxel** (a taxane-class chemotherapeutic that stabilizes microtubules, inhibiting cell division) - **Toripalimab** (a monoclonal antibody immune checkpoint inhibitor targeting PD-1, enhancing T-cell mediated anti-tumor immunity). The combination is being investigated primarily as a neoadjuvant therapy for locally advanced resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Clinical studies have shown this regimen to be safe, feasible, and effective in this setting, with notable rates of major pathological response and complete response. Toripalimab augments the anti-tumor effect of chemotherapy by blocking PD-1-mediated immunosuppression within the tumor microenvironment[1][2][4].
