Overview

This combination therapy consists of carboxymethylcellulose (an artificial tear/eye lubricant), cyclosporine (an immunosuppressant), and vitamin D (a fat-soluble vitamin). The combination is used for treating dry eye disease (DED), particularly in patients with vitamin D deficiency. Carboxymethylcellulose acts as a lubricant providing temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to eye dryness. Cyclosporine works by suppressing T-cell activation involved in ocular surface inflammation, helping to maintain a more stable tear film. Vitamin D supplementation has been shown to lead to earlier and significant improvement in tear film stability and tear production in vitamin D deficient dry eye patients.
