Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Raditear is an over-the-counter ophthalmic lubricant formulation containing carboxymethylcellulose sodium and glycerin. It is used for the temporary relief of burning, irritation, and discomfort due to dryness of the eye or exposure to wind or sun. Carboxymethylcellulose sodium acts as a viscosity-increasing agent that binds to corneal epithelial cells, prolonging tear film breakup time and providing a protective shield on the ocular surface. Glycerin acts as a demulcent, lubricant, and humectant that promotes epithelial cell growth and protects the ocular surface from hypertonic stress. The combination is marketed by Radisson Pharmaceuticals in India under the brand name Raditear.
