This is a combination of two nitrosourea alkylating agents—carmustine and lomustine—used in chemotherapy regimens for the treatment of various malignancies. Both drugs act by alkylating DNA and RNA, leading to cross-linking and inhibition of DNA replication and transcription. This results in cytotoxicity primarily against rapidly dividing cancer cells. Carmustine is commonly used for brain tumors such as glioma and lymphoma; lomustine is also used for brain tumors as well as Hodgkin's disease. The combination may be considered in certain chemotherapeutic protocols or when alternating between these agents to reduce resistance or toxicity[1][3][7].
