Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Carnitine (also known as levocarnitine or L-carnitine) and aspirin is a combination that has potential interactions. Carnitine is a quaternary ammonium compound used to treat carnitine deficiency or to stimulate gastric and pancreatic secretions in hyperlipoproteinemia. Aspirin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, reduce fever, and decrease inflammation. When combined, aspirin may decrease the excretion rate of carnitine, potentially resulting in higher serum levels of carnitine.
