Caspofungin + tigecycline is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily in research and clinical settings for the management of complex infections, particularly those involving biofilms or multidrug-resistant organisms. Caspofungin is an echinocandin antifungal that inhibits the synthesis of β-(1,3)-D-glucan, an essential component of fungal cell walls. Tigecycline is a glycylcycline antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. The combination has been studied for its potential synergistic effects against mixed bacterial-fungal biofilms and difficult-to-treat infections where both bacteria and fungi are present[1][5]. This dual approach targets both fungal and bacterial pathogens simultaneously.
