Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CBD + PEA (PGP-010-50-1) is an investigational combination product being developed by Pure Green Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), specifically targeting the feet. The formulation consists of pharmaceutical-grade cannabidiol (CBD) and palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) delivered as a water-soluble, rapid-disintegrating sublingual tablet. This delivery method is designed to bypass first-pass metabolism and improve the bioavailability of the active ingredients. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that modulates the endocannabinoid system and other nociceptive pathways, while PEA is an endogenous fatty acid amide that acts primarily as a PPAR-alpha agonist to reduce neuroinflammation. Together, the components aim to provide synergistic analgesic effects for patients suffering from chronic neuropathic pain associated with diabetes.
