CBOT + TAU is a combination therapeutic approach for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). It consists of Computerized Brain Olfactory Training (CBOT), a home-based brain stimulation system developed by Evon Medics, administered alongside Treatment-As-Usual (TAU), which typically involves standard pharmacotherapy with buprenorphine. CBOT involves daily cycles of olfactory stimulation and orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) training tasks designed to improve treatment retention and reduce negative affect, opioid craving, and withdrawal symptoms. The intervention targets the OFC, a brain region involved in reward processing and decision-making that is often impaired in individuals with OUD.
