Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CCH1 is an investigational **six-herb traditional Chinese medicine formulation** developed for chronic constipation in long-term-care residents. It is a modified form of the historical Wen-Pi Tang formula and contains *Panax ginseng*, *Zingiber officinale*, *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*, *Atractylodes macrocephala*, *Aconitum carmichaelii*, and *Rheum tanguticum*. In randomized, double-blind clinical studies in Taiwan, CCH1 was evaluated against placebo and lactulose; it increased spontaneous bowel movements and reduced use of rectal treatments and rescue laxatives. Its molecular targets and precise pharmacologic mechanism have not been established.
