Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CCV + Euvichol-Plus is a combination vaccine regimen being evaluated for the prevention of cholera. It consists of two distinct components: CCV (OSP:rTTHc), an experimental cholera conjugate vaccine, and Euvichol-Plus, a WHO-prequalified oral cholera vaccine. CCV is composed of the O-specific polysaccharide (OSP) of Vibrio cholerae conjugated to a recombinant tetanus toxoid heavy chain fragment (rTTHc) and is administered via intramuscular injection to elicit systemic immune responses. Euvichol-Plus is a bivalent inactivated vaccine containing killed whole cells of Vibrio cholerae O1 and O139 serogroups, administered orally to induce mucosal immunity. The International Vaccine Institute (IVI) is conducting Phase II trials to assess the safety and immunogenicity of this combined approach, which aims to provide more robust and longer-lasting protection than current oral vaccines alone.
