Overview

CD19 + CD22 CAR T cells (specifically the B019 construct) is an investigational bicistronic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Shanghai Children's Medical Center and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. This cell and gene therapy utilizes a single CAR construct to simultaneously target two B-cell surface antigens, CD19 and CD22, aiming to mitigate immune escape and antigen loss—common resistance mechanisms in single-target CAR T therapies. It is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) in pediatric and adolescent patients. Clinical data from large cohorts have demonstrated high complete response rates and favorable event-free survival.
