Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CD19 CAR T-cell therapy (autologous) is a cellular immunotherapy platform that utilizes a patient's own T-cells, which are genetically engineered ex vivo to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the CD19 antigen. CD19 is a cell surface protein widely expressed on B-lineage cells, including normal B cells and B-cell malignancies. Once infused back into the patient, these modified T-cells selectively bind to and destroy CD19-positive cells. This therapeutic approach is highly effective and widely approved for various B-cell malignancies, such as acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), follicular lymphoma, and mantle cell lymphoma. Additionally, autologous CD19 CAR T-cell therapy is being actively investigated for the treatment of severe, refractory B-cell-mediated autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic sclerosis (SSc), idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM), and myasthenia gravis, where it aims to achieve deep B-cell depletion and reset the immune system.
